Outlook 2007 B2 CPU hog on receiving e-mail

If I am composing an e-mail and amy typing text when a new mail arrives then
the CPU will spike at 100% and remain until I kill Outlook in the
TaskManager.
At first I thought it might be the desktop notification, but after disabling
all those settings it still happens. If I see Outlook downloading mail, and I
stop typing an outgoing e-mail until the download is complete then everything
is fine, but if I stay typing during the download completion then I get the
issue.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does the same thing happen when you use Outlook in safe mode (Start,
Run, "outlook.exe /safe")?

Disable all your add-ins via Tools, Trust Center, Add-Ins except the
Outlook VBA one. Then reenable them one at a time to find out which
add-in is causing the CPU hogging. Once you find, I'd appreciate if you
could send me an email with that information. I'll let Microsoft then
know about it. You can get my email address from my website.
