Outlook 2007 Advanced Find Is Broken

I am using outlook 2007 on windows XP. It has been working fine but within
the last 2 weeks, Advanced Find has stopped working correctly. I am guessing
that a recent security patch has caused it, but I am not sure. I am up to
date on all critical patches.

If I open the advanced find dialog to search the inbox and I type some text
and seach “subject field onlyâ€, it will not find the e-mails. If I repetely
press the “find now†after a number of presses, the matching e-mails will
appear. If I press “find now†again, they are no longer listed and I have to
keep pressing find now to get them to reappear.

Additionally, when it does list the e-mails, it does not always list all
matches. For example, in a scenario where there are 12 unread e-mails in my
inbox, if I leave the search field blank and go to the “more choices†tab
and then check “Only items that are unread†and click find now, it may
display 4 e-mails in the list but at the bottom of the find dialog, it says
“12 itemsâ€. If I click “Find Now†again, eventually it will display all of
them.

I have searched but I cannot find anything about this problem. Thanks for
your help.

If someone could offer some advice here, I would appreciate it. I really
need to get this fixed.

I would be happy to show a snapshot of the Advanced Find dialog with the
problem, but I don't see any way to upload a picture.

Robert,

As I replied to another of your posts on this topic, I also have the same
problem in Outlook 2007. It seems that I can execute the same find multiple
times by repeatedly pressing the Find Now button, and sometimes the results
are displayed, and sometimes I get only the "There are no items to show in
this view" message.

I'm having the same problem, except mine never finds the emails I'm looking
for. Instant search is flaky - it works sometimes, and not others. Please
help!

This KB described my exact problem. When I installed the hot fix, I got a
message saying that the fix was already installed and my problem still exists.
