outlook 2003 with word 2003

HI;
I am running outlook 2003 with serice pack1. Since I have added the
service pack one winword.exe runs in the background when I have sent an
e-mail. It stays running until I shut it down through task manager. Any idea
why and how to stop it please????

if you are using word as your editor, it's going to be running.
