Outlook 2003 with Word 2002 editor

Hi,
Is it true you can not use word as the mail editor for outlook 2003 if you
don't have word 2003? We ar eupgrading Outlook 2002 (from the MS Office
suite) to outlook 2003, but since word will stay at word 2002 version does
that mean there is no way to use word 2002 as the email editor?

Thoughts?

Correct. It either won't work at all or it'll work but get odd errors. It's
a completely unsupported configuration, as far as I know.
