How to use Word 2002 as e-mail editor with Outlook 2003

I

Ingun

I have upgated my Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003, but not the rest of Office
2002.

Now I don't have the possibility to use Word 2002 as w-mail editor.

On -Options - Mail Format- the choice to use Word as e-mail editor is greyed
out.

How can I make Outlook 2003 using my Word 2002 as editor?

Regards,

Ingun

You can't. Versions must match.
Just curious. Whose advice were you following to upgrade only one component
of the Office Suite? I see a lot of people doing this, and I don't
understand what they are thinking they will accomplish, other than a loss of
functionality.

Upgrated to Outlook 2003 because it was included in the Exchange 2003 deal.

And I bet no one warned you this would happen, did they?

As ill-advised as it may seem, that's what the higher-ups at my company have
elected to do. They're going to push a mass update to Outlook 2003 from
Outlook 2000 to our desktops without updating any other part of Office.
Some people use Office 2000 and some XP. When told of the breakage, the
higher-ups say, "so?"

Ask them to come help us answer these questions in the newsgroup, then :)

If no one uses any of the integration features with Word, then it probably
won't matter.

Well, it won't to me (since I already use OL 2003 with Office XP), but when
I asked the guy spearheading the switch, "what about those who want to use
Word as their mail editor?" the answer was "too bad."

I also recieved Outlook 2003 with Exchange. I would like to know who the
bright person at Microsoft is who decided not to make Word 2002 compatible
with Outlook 2003. Especially, since Microsoft wants to include Outlook 2003
with Exchange.

Very very negligent on Microsoft's part!!!!!

Well, Outlook 2002 wasn't able to work with Word 2000, either, so it's been
years and years that the versions of Outlook and Word have had to match.
The only exception was that Outlook 2000 could use Word 97 if you had Office
97 installed and updated Outlook.

Ya know, I was just SURE that I've had users with Outlook 2002 using Word
2000 as their e-mail editor...but I looked around and it turns out that what
I've got is the converse..Outlook 2000 users who have Word 2002 and use it as
their editor.

Now personally I think using Word as an e-mail editor is kinda like using a
thermonuclear weapon to dig a swimming pool, and I always turn it off. I
doubt more than a handful of my users are even aware that you CAN use Word as
an e-mail editor.
