Hi,

Any idea how to solve this issue?

Example : Catherine Wang

When I sort out email according to name, sometimes I face issue that there
are other name under Catherine Wang Item, any idea how to resolve this issue?

View -> Arrange By -> From

It will show all the email by the order of name from which sender.

Hi Lawrence,

I understand you found other name displaying under specific name when using
Arrange By -> From option in Outlook 2003.

I performed some research and noticed "Arrange by" settings for Outlook
2003 is machine specific. Please check if the issue only occurred on this
machine? Please log on your account on another machine to test the issue.

If the issue only occurred on the specific machine, I suggest we can create
a new Outlook profile to see if we can make some progress.

If there is any update, please keep me posted.

Hi Daisy,

Do you have any patches file or update to solve this issue?

From my understanding there are some patch files that can resolve this issue.

Hi Daisy,

Are you able to source any patch files?

i am unable to find any files from Microsoft website.

Hi Lawrence,

First, we can install all Office updates to fix known issues.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/maincatalog.aspx

Since I did not find any similar cases in our internal database, it should
not to be a known issue.

So it seems the issue is mostly caused by the specific profile or account,
I suggested we create a new profile to test the issue first.

Creating a new profile is a easy step and will not affect your current
profile, please follow the steps in the article, if you have any question
on the steps, feel free to post back.

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918

If the issue persists in the new profile, the issue may also be caused by
your specific account, please log on your account on another machine to see
if the issue could be reproduced.

In addition, please send me a screenshot of the issue, I will check it for
you to see if I can find any clues.

Screenshot:
=======
1. When the unexpected behavior appears, please press the Print Screen key
(PrtScn) on your keyboard.
2. Click Start, click Run, type MSPAINT, and click OK.
3. In Paint, click Paste under the Edit Menu, click Save under the File
menu, type a file name for the snap shot, choose JPEG as "Save as type",
click "Desktop" on the left pane, and click Save.
4. Please find the screenshot on the Desktop and send it as an attachment
to: (e-mail address removed).

Thank you, I am standing by for your reply.

Hi Daisy,

I had try to create the profile on a new spare laptop as you mention but i
still face this issue, is there any reliable ways to sort or solve this issue?

I hear from my IT support in US that there are some tools which can detect
and solve the problem.

The user got 17763emails in the email box and i guess it is due to the size
of the mailbox that affect this problem. Any recommendation or tools to hold
huge mailbox?

Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for your time and effort on the issue.

I understand the issue persists on another laptop. In addition, the user
have 17763 emails, it may be the cause.

At this time, I would like to know if the issue only occurred on one user
account? Could you please capture a screenshot to show me the problem?
Thank you very much.

Screenshot:
=======
1. Whenever the error appears, please press the Print Screen key (PrtScn)
on your keyboard.

We do have tools to repair Outlook inbox, such as scanpst.exe which could
help us fix pst errors.

However, as the issue persists on another machine, it seems not occurred on
the pst and we may need additional steps to narrow down the root cause
first. Please log on other user accounts and let me know if the issue also
occurred?

In addition, have you installed all Office updates yet?

Hi Daisy,

We done a test by sorting the email by 2004 and 2005 follow by 2006 etc...
it solve the sorting issue..but do you have any way to solve this without
sorting out by folder?

Daisy Cao said:
Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for your time and effort on the issue.

I understand the issue persists on another laptop. In addition, the user
have 17763 emails, it may be the cause.

At this time, I would like to know if the issue only occurred on one user
account? Could you please capture a screenshot to show me the problem?
Thank you very much.

Screenshot:
=======
1. Whenever the error appears, please press the Print Screen key (PrtScn)
on your keyboard.

Hi Lawrence,

As the issue occurred on another machine. In this case, it is related to
the mailbox, instead of Outlook or a specific machine.

At this time, I would suggest that we try the following steps to check the
effect.

Step 1: Start Outlook with /cleanviews switch
============================
The switch will restore default views. Please note, after we use the
switch, all custom views you created are lost.

1. Click Start | Run.
2. In the Open box, type: "Outlook /cleanviews" (without the quotation
marks)
Notes: There is a space character between Outlook and the forward slash (/).
3. Click OK.

Now please check whether the same issue occurs. If it doesn't help, please
try the next step.

Step 2: Recreate the mailbox (this assumes that cu's mailbox is on Exchange
2003)
====================
1. Please first use Outlook or ExMerge to backup the problematic user's
mailbox data.

174197 XADM: Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge Program (Exmerge.exe)
information
<http://support.microsoft.com/?id=174197>

2. Open Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) on Exchange Server.
3. Click View, and select "Advanced Features".
4. Right click the problematic user and click Exchange Tasks.
5. Click Next on the Welcome page of the Exchange Task Wizard.
6. Click Delete Mailbox.
7. Click Next, click Next, and then click Finish.
8. Go to Exchange System Manager -> Organization -> Administrative Groups
-> First Administrative Group -> Mailbox Store -> Mailboxes.
9. Right click Mailboxes and choose "Run Cleanup Agent".
10. Right-click the mailbox, and then click Purge to permanently delete the
mailbox. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
11. Go back to ADUC, locate the problematic user account and right click it
to choose Exchange Tasks.
12. Select "Create Mailbox" and click Next to finish the procedure.

Note: You will not see the newly created mailbox in the Mailboxes container
until the user has successfully logged on the mailbox at least once.

13. After the user logs onto his mailbox, import the backup .pst file back
to the mailbox and test if this issue still occurs.

If you have any concerns on above steps, feel free to post back.

Best Regards,

Daisy Cao

| Hi Lawrence,
|
| As the issue occurred on another machine. In this case, it is related to
| the mailbox, instead of Outlook or a specific machine.
|
| At this time, I would suggest that we try the following steps to check
the
| effect.
|
| Step 1: Start Outlook with /cleanviews switch
| ============================
| The switch will restore default views. Please note, after we use the
| switch, all custom views you created are lost.
|
| 1. Click Start | Run.
| 2. In the Open box, type: "Outlook /cleanviews" (without the quotation
| marks)
| Notes: There is a space character between Outlook and the forward slash
(/).
| 3. Click OK.
|
| Now please check whether the same issue occurs. If it doesn't help,
please
| try the next step.
|
| Step 2: Recreate the mailbox (this assumes that cu's mailbox is on
Exchange
| 2003)
| ====================
| 1. Please first use Outlook or ExMerge to backup the problematic user's
| mailbox data.
|
| 174197 XADM: Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge Program (Exmerge.exe)
| information
| <http://support.microsoft.com/?id=174197>
|
| 10. Right-click the mailbox, and then click Purge to permanently delete
the
| mailbox. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
| 11. Go back to ADUC, locate the problematic user account and right click
it
| to choose Exchange Tasks.
| 12. Select "Create Mailbox" and click Next to finish the procedure.
|
| Note: You will not see the newly created mailbox in the Mailboxes
container
| until the user has successfully logged on the mailbox at least once.
|
| 13. After the user logs onto his mailbox, import the backup .pst file
back
| to the mailbox and test if this issue still occurs.
|
| If you have any concerns on above steps, feel free to post back.
|
| Best Regards,
|

| |
| | Hi Lawrence,
| |
| | As the issue occurred on another machine. In this case, it is related
to
| | the mailbox, instead of Outlook or a specific machine.
| |
| | At this time, I would suggest that we try the following steps to check
| the
| | effect.
| |
| | Step 1: Start Outlook with /cleanviews switch
| | ============================
| |
| |
| |
| | Step 2: Recreate the mailbox (this assumes that cu's mailbox is on
| Exchange
| | 2003)
| | ====================
| | 1. Please first use Outlook or ExMerge to backup the problematic user's
| | mailbox data.
| |
| | 174197 XADM: Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge Program (Exmerge.exe)
| | information
| | <http://support.microsoft.com/?id=174197>
| |
| | 8. Go to Exchange System Manager -> Organization -> Administrative
Groups
| | -> First Administrative Group -> Mailbox Store -> Mailboxes.
| | 9. Right click Mailboxes and choose "Run Cleanup Agent".
| | 10. Right-click the mailbox, and then click Purge to permanently delete
| the
| | mailbox. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
| | 11. Go back to ADUC, locate the problematic user account and right
click
| it
| | to choose Exchange Tasks.
| |
| |
| |
| |
