Somehow it's lost count.
When my inbox is empty, my unread mail count is 1.
When I open the unread mail folder, it's empty!!

How can I teach outlook to count again?

Is this an Exchange mailbox? If so; have your administrator run "isinteg"
against the database to check it's integrity.

Tips of the month:
-Backup and Restore
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

Sorry, I should have said that it's not involving Exchange.
I have four POP email accounts all emptying into the same Inbox.

Is it simplest just to delete the Search Folder and recreate it?
I know it doesn't solve the underlying problem, more brushes it under the
carpet :)

I would select all the emails in a folder, then mark them
as read, see if that clears the problem...

If all the emails in my Inbox are marked as read, my Unread Mail search
folder is empty.
But it still has a count of (1) next to it in the treeview !!

Since no-one has an answer I'll delete the Unread Mail search folder in the
treeview.
Then create a new search folder called Unread Mail that looks in the Inbox
for unread mail.

If that totally breaks Outlook by deleting one of its predefined folders,
I'll be back :(
If that fixes the problem, I won't know why it fixed it, but I'll be back to
say it worked :)

Removing the flder and adding a new one of the same name with the same
settings worked.
