Outlook 2003, unable to see/attach zip files using insert / file

A machine running outlook 2003 is unable to see or attach zip files when
clicking on insert / file.

when you browse the folder after clicking insert file you can see all other
files except zip files.

When you browse this folder using my computer you can see the zip file

if you drag and drop the zip file into the new message window within outlook
its ok so its just when you click on insert / file

polease can anyone out there help me with this problem
