Hi,

I'm having difficulty with Outlook. When I run Outlook it runs very slowly
until it appears to stop working. It typical completely stalls when I can
see at the bottom of the screen "Databinding..." though I think I've seen it
go past that before. I reinstalled Outlook, and run it in safe mode and I
still have the problem.

Despite running slow and stalling there is almost nil CPU usage happening.
I have a very large outlook.pst file. Last time I looked it was over 2GB.
I haven't had a problem before with this large file.

Anyone got a suggestion as how to fix, or to find the cause, of this
problem?

Thanks

Tom

4.59 gig? YIKES!

Tom, you should really back up your pst file. A file that size might easily get corrupted. Also, there is a two gig size limit on pst files, so please try shrinking that file!

Hi Tom,

If you pst file is showing as over 4gb, then it has probably already corrupted. The delay in opening the program is due to Outlook tryng to make sense of the pst file.
If the personal folder is the default delivery location, create a new pst so your email can start working again. Search your hdd for scanpst.exe (should be installed as part of Office) and run the program against the original pst.
If it is as large as you say, prepare for a long wait and use the 'Make a backup option'!

In future, don't let your pst file get over 1.8gb max. Just create new pst's as and when required and move some folders around.

Cheers,

Crucible
