Outlook 2003 not transfering information

I have Outlook 2003. I am using Windows Vista Home. When adding a new
appointment to my calendar, it shows up on the large calendar but may or may
not show up in the small two month calendar on the left side of the page as a
bold date. If it does not show up as a bold day, it does not transfer to my
phone when I sync. What am I doing wrong when adding new appointments?

Many were all day events. They were marked free and I have changed them to
either tentative or busy. Many are also recurring birthdays. When I made the
changes, they became bold on the small calendar but some still did not
transver to my phone when I did a sync.
Thanks
Larry
