Running 2003 on 2 diff pc's, both with 2 monitors.

On one I get a blue pop up window appear briefly on the bottom right of one
monitor when an email come sin and outlook is open on the other monitor. It
gives a brief description of the email. Can't work out how to set this up on
the second PC.

Are you sure that the "blue pop-up" is not coming from Windows Messenger?

No I don't use Messenger, though it is installed as my son uses it.

But it might be running in the background - I only ask because I get a "blue
pop-up" when messenger is running. It is on by default I think, when Outlook
2003 is launched. You have to de-select it in Outlook AFAIK

So do you know where I select it?

Have download and installed Windows Messenger (already had Windows Live
Messenger) but can't get it to run.

Isn't that the one that says something like you have received an email would
you like to open it?

The one that pops up on my other PC (1000mls away in England) actually shows
me enough info to see who it's from and what its about in the brief 2/3
seconds it stays on the screen.

The Desktop Alert contains the sender information, the subject, and the
first few lines of the message. The amount of time it will stay on the
screen is adjustable by clicking the Desktop Alert Settings button on the
options page I mentioned.

Doesn't show - is this because I made a mistake and it's Outlook 2002?

Yes. The Desktop Alert is available in Outlook 2003 and 2007.
