Outlook 2003: Missing dll file and Error 1492

I have two problems. I was trying to email some photos at the same time an
Adobe program was running and after I got a bunch of email error messages. I
exited OUtlook and then tried again and was given this error message .

"The add-in “C:\Program Files\Seagate\Autobackup\Redemption.dllâ€could not be
installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair
on the Help menu. Unable to load “C:\Program
Files\Seagate\Autobackup\Redemption.dllâ€. You may be out of memory, out of
system resources or missing a .dll file."

I had some crappy Memeo Backup software that came with a HDD and had
uninstalled the software earlier this week. I have no idea why Outlook is
looking for a backup file from Seagate?

Then I removed Outlook from my computer and then reinstalled it, and got an
error message . "Error 1492. Setup cannot open the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\giffile\shell\Open\ddeexec. Verify that you have
sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product
Support Servies for assistance. ….."

I'm not on a network. I've never set a password or an administrator so I
don't understand why I need to get permissions for whatever??

The end result is I have OUtlook as my mail program and I can't send or
receive any emails although my settings for POP3, and Mail and News servers
are correct as well as the port. Nothing has changed.

Any suggestions that will work? Otherwise I'll just get another email
program that works, and would like suggestions for one that will download my
address book and my saved email files.

Mimeo Backup is from Seagate. You uninstalled it, but it didn't clear out
all its tracks. The program's tie-in to Outlook wasn't removed. Had you
gone no farther, we probably could have suggested how to fix this.

Can you open Windows Explorer and click Tools>Folder Options>File Types and
see what the Open action for GIF files is?

Check, within Outlook, the comm addins, make unavailable the seagate backup
PS Uninstall/Reinstall of Outlook rarely cures a problem, and a
detect/repair cannot repair third party addins you installed

What are the settings you have? I have mine set to open in Microsoft Office
Picture Manager on one PC and "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" on another.
"Use DDE" is checked. Do you have "Use DDE" checked? If it is checked,
uncheck it. If it's not checked, check it and see if the change makes a
difference. What exactly do you have for the "Application used to perform
action" field?
