Outlook 2003 IMAP SSL

I am using Outlook as and IMAP client. When I try to use it configured
as IMAP SSL, Outlook just continues to poll the server and eventually
freezes. I have tried other email clients and they work fine. From
doing some research, this seems to be a known issue, but does anyone
know of a fix. Thanks.

What do you mean "continues to poll the server"? Are you getting any
messages? Are you sure that the server supports SSL? A recent change in
the IMAP standards has left Outlook non-compliant in the area of SSL, which
is now supposed to be supported through something called "STARTTLS" rather
than the older SSL mechanism that Outlook uses, so that could be part of
the problem. Does Outlook Express work?

What I mean by "continues to poll the server" is it continues to attempt to
retrieve messages without getting any. If I remove SSL and use standard
IMAP, is works great. Yes, the server supports SSL. I have tried
successfully using SSL with Thunderbird, The BAT, and Outlook Express.

I am going to try a clean install of Outlook 2003 and see if I get the same
issue. Thanks for your reply.

If the clean install doesn't work, post back and let's try trouble-shooting
the problem.
