outlook 2003 hangs opening/inserting attachment

Opening/inserting attachments causes outlook 2003 to hang. Size and file type
do not matter
 
On a network??
Have mapped drives?
If so remove then

No not on a network. Standalone laptop. No mapping. Used to be okay then
stopped funtioning.
