Outlook 2003 Freezing

When I click 'new' to create a new email or 'forward' or 'reply' on a
received email, the system freezes up. It eventually will let me do what I
want to do, but it takes several minutes to get there. This happened quite
suddenly. In the morning, all was working fine. A few hours later this
began. From what I've read so far, in Outlook 2007, this might be fixable by
doing something with 'add-ons'. I don't see that same section in Outlook
2003 or anything like it. Would really appreciate some ideas on how to fix
this. Thanks.

Thanks - that definitely answered the Add-ins question - however, it turned
out that wasn't the problem. I checked for other posts about outlook
freezing up and actually found something from 2007 regarding Outlook 2000 -
and you were the one who answered that issue. I changed my email editor so
it isn't 'Word', and the problem is gone - however, I still don't understand
why it occurred in the first place. You also suggested at that time changing
the normal.dot file to normal.old. I'll try that as well. Thanks for your
help.
