Outlook 2003 Folder Cleanup

G

Gordon

I have Outlook 2003 (11.8169.8172)SP3 running on Windows XP with the Personal
Folders in 97-2002 format. I'd like to clean up the folders shown in the
"All Mail Folders" window. Currently there are two "Personal Folders" shown.
The Personal Folders are identical. Incoming messages appear in both
folders. Right-clicking on either Personal Folder does not permit Close
"Personal Folders" to be used (it is grayed-out for both folders). How can I
delete one instance of the duplicated Personal Folders?

Your Outlook profile seems to be damaged. Using [1] should help to
repair it.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, when I tried to use OLFix, I got
the error message "OLFix_Reperatur.exe is not a valid Win32 application"

You might also want to create a new data file, in unicode format, when
creating the Profile, before adding your old data file.

The developer has answered: please download the exe-file again. It seems
to be that the download did not work. If necessary, purge the cache of
the Internet Explorer.

To all who submitted help..... Thanks!

I was able to get OLFix to work, but it didn't eliminate the duplicate
instance of "Personal Folders" although it did delete some lines in the
registry. I may try it again later.

I've briefly read the information on the "Outlook Tips" website for deleting
"Ghost" PST's. I'll have to read it in greater detail, but I have run out of
time to work on this today and have to get some other work done.

Then you have to create a new profile.
