Outlook 2003 does not receive after the last Windows Update

Since the 21st of the month (Monday), I have not been able to receive my
email on Outlook 2003. I can read my email by webmail though. That means my
ISP is delivering the mail. I have to point out that this started out after
my last update (I think it was a Windows update). If any one has any idea of
what is happening, please enlighten me. I have Norton Internet Security
enaged on my computer.

Thank you.

Kwame.

Have you tried the Test Account Settings option to see what error message(s)
you get?

Yes, actually it is both sending and receiving. Outlook 2003 reported finding
the specified server but no response from the server in both the sending and
incoming mail server sides. What I am baffled about is that I have had the
same setting for over six months and have had no problems with email until
now.

Thank you very much for your response.

Check with your ISP to see if they are having issues on their end. Also,
did they change how you authenticate when sending mail?

I had the exact same problem and it took me three days to fix it! I also use
Outlook 2003 and Norton Internet Security 2005. I tried almost every
recommendation from both Microsoft and Symantec and here's what finally
worked for me:

Close Outlook
Open Norton Internet Security
Click on "Personal Firewall"
Click on "Turn Off"
Click on "Configure"
Click on "Programs" tab
Scroll down and highlight "Microsoft Outlook"
Click on "Remove"
Click on "Add"
Find and highlight Outlook.exe file. (Mine was located at c:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office11)

Click "OK"
Click "Turn On"
Close Norton Internet Security
Open Outlook

Voila!! Mine works now!!!

I know how frustrating it is--hope this helps!
