outlook 2003 automatic formatting

I experimented with different color formats for messages, and now all new
folders are automatically formatted with these colors. How can I revert back
to default colors for all new folders?

sounds like you changed the default view.

With the view applied to the folder, go to views, arrange by, customize,
define views. if you want to save the view, click copy and rename it. Select
the view by name (not current view) - it's probably Messages - and click
Reset.
