Outlook 2003 auto archive

If I enabled the auto archive to run every 7 days does it start from the date
I set it? How do I know when it will run during that day? Does it require
Outlook open or running? Or it will run even Outlook is closed? If OL needs
to be open what auto archive will do if OL is not running for the scheduled
day? Will it start next available day?
