Outlook 2003 and Word XP

I've been using the entire Office XP Suite, and recently upgraded Outlook to
the 2003 version, but left the rest of Office XP intact.

I had been using Word as my e-mail editor in Outlook, and now that option is
grayed out.

Does Outlook 2003 really require Word 2003 to 'use word as the e-mail
editor'?

A big dissapiontment if so.
