Outlook 2002 - links in email open VERY slowly

If there is a link in an email and I click on it, it takes IE about 30-60
seconds to open it. A new IE window opens and it comes up, but after a long
wait.

I read that it might be a file association problem. What does that mean and
how would I check that?

Any other suggestions? I read a few forum where people had the same
question but nobody had any working solutions.

To add... Outlook because unresponsive in the time that it takes the IE
window to pop up with the linked webpage.
