Outlook 2002 in Windows Vista

I bought a Toshiba laptop last month. It came with a trial version of MS
Office 2007. I uninstalled that and installed MS Office XP (10), with
Outlook 2002. When I open the Outlook program, I get a message that it is
unable to open any default folders. Thus, I have no inbox, etc., and cannot
use it! Any ideas?

Also, altho the MS Word is showing up in my 'programs', it is not listed as
a choice for a default program.

Thanks for any assist.

You need to uninstall Office XP, and reinstall it outside of the program
files directory, ex: c:\officexp\

You also need to make sure you download and install all of the updates
for Office xp.

Disabling UAC and having local admin access don't hurt either.

This is so wrong on so many fronts that I'm not even going to correct this
post. If you follow these steps, you are well on your way in crippling your
computer configuration.

To start; Office XP is not fully compatible with Windows Vista and has known
compatibility issues which will not be solved.
See http://www.msoutlook.info/question/28

The data file created with Outlook 2007 is not compatible with Outlook 2002
and previous. You'll need to recreate your mail profile as per;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

If you want to access the data that you stored in the data file of Outlook
2007, you'll have to do that via Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007.

Thank you, Robert.
I had actually tried to do an update of the Outlook 2002 prior to using it
on this new computer, but was unable to finish THAT process, either.
Given your statement about the incompatability issues of Vista and Outlook
2002, I will explore your suggested remedies.

Thanks, again,
Jan
