Hi,

I have XPPro, and MSOffice XP. Problem is with Outlook 2002. This does not
happen every time, only every now and then. I exit Outlook and it continues
to run as a process (OUTLOOK.EXE) in the Task Manager. I have to shut it
down from Task Manager.

Anyone know the source of this problem. It is annoying because I have to
check Task Manager every time I exit Outlook to make sure it closes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Leef

Any 3rd party products installed that use/protect outlook data? (e.g.
WinFax, MSFax, ActiveSync, Antivirus, Instant Messengers [eg. ICQ]. Oh at
least we forget, Word still running after you close Outlook and you use Word
as your e-mail editor.)

Hi Neo,

The only one running is Norton's Anti Virus 2003 (scans incoming and
outgoing mail), that runs down in the tray all the time. None of the others
you mention are running. If I try to run Outlook and it did not shut down
from the Processes tab in a previous session, it behaves erratically.
Stopping it in Task Manager, then restarting it; it runs fine. I use MS
Word 2002 as my email word processor, but I do not see it running in the
processes after I shut Outlook down. What else can I look for?
THANKS!

See if Norton adds an addin. (Tools | options | other | advanced options |
addin manager. Look for LDVP. If it is there and checked, uncheck it and
then test.)

Hi Neo,

I checked under Tools>Options>Add-in Manager, and the only thing listed in
the window (that was also checked in the check box) was "Exchange Extensions
property pages". I have no idea what this is....

Hi Neo,

It did it again today. I exited Outlook via the menu File>Exit. Checked
Task Manager and OUTLOOK.EXE was still running under the processes. Any
other ideas as to why it does not shut down sometimes?

It is not messenger related, I don't think, as I have not even had messenger
running the the last 2 days.

Sincerely,
Leef

Hi Neo,

Outlook.exe did not close again today. It closes off of the screen, but is
still running under the "processes" in Task Manager. I have checked the
computer event logging and can find NO logs created by this event.

Leef
