Outlook 2002, Deleting Files Fails

I believe deleting files with Outlook 2002 is failing due to the oversize
file limit of 2Gbytes for .pst files. Please provide a fix for this problem
that allows for preservation of existing .pst files and continued use of
Outlook 2002.

It's unlikely that more than 5 years after the release of Office XP, and
after two newer Outlook version releases, Microsoft is going to make any
changes to the 2GB limit of the older format .PST files or the problems users
have in getting their data back if they fill them up too far. The solution
is to either keep your .PST files to a manageable size if you need to stick
with Outlook 2002 (use AutoArchive to move older items to other .PSTs as
needed), or to upgrade to Outlook 2007 and move your data to a new Unicode
..PST file which can, at the moment, theoretically hold more data than your
hard drive can store.

Thanks for the response. I have no interest in upgrading at this time. All
I want to do is delete emails to get the .pst files down below the limit and
the delete function does not work on emails residing in the incoming and
outgoing folders. I am looking for a solution to fix what I have.

Thanks Brian, I am still trying to fix this within the confines of Microsoft
solutions as opposed to introducing unknown 3rd party solutions. Another 3rd
party solution is at http://www.officerecovery.com/outlook/. I am working
with Microsoft's knowledge base solution under article 296088, which allows
for cropping the size of the pst file. I succeeded in cropping the file, but
it still does not work. I am going to try again with a bigger crop. Any
other suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

I wish Microsoft would make this problem easier to solve.
