Question first:
What does your question have to do with Windows XP?
(You chose to post in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general for a reason - I am
genuinely curious as to your reasoning.)

A quick Google search came up with this:

Description of the versions of Office that are supported on Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932087

A little more Google searching says you probably have installed Office
2000 - but not bothered to fully patch it yet? Get the Service
Releases/Service Packs installed at least!

I cannot recall how cumulative they are - so here are links to each of them:

Office 2000 Service Release 1a (SR-1a)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=AF6C8D03-7633-45B4-AB96-795EE656F2A2

Office 2000 Update: Service Pack 2 (SP-2)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=96DF48A9-7638-429E-816E-35F16F6528CA

Office 2000 Update: Service Pack 3 (SP3)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5C011C70-47D0-4306-9FA4-8E92D36332FE

There are many more patches after SP3 - be sure to get them!
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/CD010225771033.aspx

Once you get fully patched - see if the problem still exists. If so - post
in a Microsoft Office newsgroup about it and/or consider that it is closer
to 2010 than 2000 by quite the jump. ;-) Microsoft ended even extended
support for Office 2000 this year:
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?LN=en-us&x=13&y=16&p1=2484

Enjoy and Hope that Helps!

In fact - come back and let everyone know how it goes... After all - this
message is archived indefinitely - so anyone doing a Googler search (or
other web search) in the future is likely to come across your posting.
Having a "I updated and everything worked out fine" might help them follow
the proper advice right off the bat instead of continuing to search. (Or if
it doesn't help - coming back and letting us know would prevent them from
following the incorrect advice!)

Why are you asking an Outlook-in-Vista question in a WinXP-specific
newsgroup?

While WAB.DLL is not an Outlook file but a Windows (Vista) file, Outlook
does depend on it. Office 2000 is not supported in Vista. Furthermore,
Extended Support for Office 2000 ended on 14 July 2009.

Peter,

Extended Support expired a month ago, you referenced a 2 year old
document. Office 2000 may be considered "unsupported software" no matter
what operating system the OP has.
