We are currently in the process of upgrading to outlook
2000 to 2002. One client has pointed out that the display
name when she composes a new email from the contacts list
is different. Here are the steps to get to the same place
she sees: Compose new email, select TO:, changes names
from teh "show names from" from global address book to a
outlook address book called contacts.

What she saw in outlook 2000 appeared like the below
example:

NAME
Smith, John(email)
Smith, John(fax)
Smothers, Jim(email)
Snooker, Pocket(email)

When upgraded to outlook 2002 she sees:

NAME
Smith, John
Smith, John
Smothers, Jim
Snooker, Pocket

The information that was in parenthesis is no longer
there, nor can I find any way to make it appear the way it
had in the previous version of outlook.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

That's the way it works now and it can't be changes. The address type
(SMTP, FAX, etc.) is located farther to the right. Drag the horizonal
scroll bar and you'll see it. By the way, Email is always the first one.
