Outlook 2000 shortcut bar missing in Outlook 2003

Hello..

Newbie poster here.....so hopefuly I am in the right place...to make this a
suggestion to Microsoft.

I have been using OUTLOOK 2003 (as part of OFFice Pro 2003), for well over
a year now at work, and I absolutley HATE the fact that MS did away with the
OUTLOOK Shortcut bar that used to be on the left, that allowed you to
directly access folders in the outlook tree. The folder option access at the
bottom of the current 2003 has some shortucts but they are incomplete and non
customizable, i.e. I can't add things like deleted items or other
frequently accessed folders.
Having the crappy nav bar at the bottom with limited customizability, is
about as helpful as hair on an egg, and it eats up real estate, so I turn it
off.

When you have a long folder tree in outlook, getting to the sent items
folder when you are way way down the tree, is a real PIA because you have to
scroll way way up to the top of the tree to click on that folder, then
scrolll way way down to the folder you want to drag an email into instead of
being deep in the tree where you want to drag the message, clicking once on
the left to go to the sent items folder and being presented with the mesages
there, which you can then just grab and drag the ones you it to where you are
currently positioned.

I refuse to upgrade my Office 2000 because in my home office because of
this. I believe that Microsoft should re-instate the OUTLOOK shortcut bar.
Taking features away that increase productivity is a poor way to instantiate
good customer relations and make customers happy. At the very least, MS could
make this an option to choose, similar to the way you have given the option
in windows to use new GUI presentations or Windows Classic presentations.

Is there any chance that Microsoft will bring this feature back or provide a
better one so that I do not have to constantly scroll up and down my outlook
tree to access and/or move things around?

I am not adverse to change; infact, I am often of the bleeding edge with a
lot of software I use. This is not a matter of embracing change, it is a
complaint about usability and lost produtivity.

I have seen lots of discussions on the Office shortcut bar, and that is NOT
what this is about. This is about the OUTLOOK shortcut bar . I have also
seen other posts about this as well, but few responses.

I actually wanted to reply in support of one or two other posts which seem
to be along the same lines, but was unable to. I could vote agree or
disagree, but could not post. I am new at this so unfamiliarity with how
this all works might have something to do with that part.

Anyways, if you read alll the way through this, thank you for your time.
I would love to see this fixed so if this is votable, and you fell the same
way, please vote on it too.

Cheers

Nope, that one is gone forever.

IMO for the things you are requesting the new Navigation Pane provides far
more support. For instance you can switch to the Shortcuts Navifation to
create your own tree and this very much resembles the functionality of the
Outlook Bar. Personally I prefer the Mail Navigation and add the folders
that are tugged away but still need frequent access to the Favorite Folders
list.
