Outlook 2000 pro keeps hanging on startup

A guy in my office was watching a powerpoint slideshow and had a blue screen
of death in the middle of it. After we rebooted his pc everything works fine
except Outlook hangs on the intial loading screen and sits there for about
2.5 hours before it loads up the program and then just totally freezes
everything, including the mouse cursor. I've tried both reparing the office
installation and also uninstalling it and reinstalling it with both the
Office pro edition and office small business edition and everything still
works great except the same hanging issue with the outlook still exists.
He's running Office pro 2000 and windows 98 SE as his OS. Also his inbox is
at 1.65 GB if this makes any difference.

I guess its not called office 2000 pro , its office 2000 standard

Is he using a PST?

I figured it out.... some of his .dat files got corrupted so by just reanming
the old ones Outlook just rebuilt them on startup and everything is running
