Outlook 2000 Custom forms used in O2003

Hi,
We have builded a custom outlook task form for our
helpdesk request with Outlook 2000. Now we are trying to
use this same form with Outlook 2003 but when we try to
create a new task we get a message saying "The object
could not be found" but from any earlier client (outlook
XP or 2000) it still works fine. And also when we open an
already created task that use this form, the form get
reinstalled every time.

Any idea's?

We, also, have been using the same custom Outlook forms in a public folder
since
Outlook 97.

After installing Outlook 2003 (11.5608.5606), some people in our office get
the following message when attempting to open the custom form: "Object
could not be found." with the result that the custom forms cannot be used.

This is happening under several OSs: Windows 2000 Pro, Windows 2000 SP4,
Windows 2000 SP3, Windows 2003 Server, and Windows XP Pro. But the forms
are working for a couple of people using Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP
Pro.

The usual remedy of closing Outlook and all Outlook items then deleting the
frmcache.dat file does not work.

Has anyone seem similar problems, or have a solution?

group and received no supplies. I haven't seen any information on this in
google searches yet either.

We have many custom forms in our public folders and are having the same
issues. We are running Exchange 2000. I found that publishing the form to
the organization forms library fixes the problem. May want to give that a
try as a workaround for now until Microsoft has a better solution.

There are some subtle changes in the forms caching in Outlook 2003 that we're just learning about. Try deleting all the files in the forms cache folder, not just using the Clear Cache command in Outlook or deleting frmcache.dat.

I deleted the frmcache.dat and all the subfolders that were in the folder
with it, and the situation improved. I can open existing items now. But
when I attempt to create a new item the attempt fails with the message "The
form you selected could not be displayed. The object could not be found."

I haven't tried publishing to the Organizational Forms Library as an
alternative. There are other considerations with doing that.

Thanks very much for the feedback. It's good to know that it's really a
problem with Outlook and not something I have configured incorrectly or
coded incorrectly in the form.

I had the same result when clearing all files from the forms cache folder:
I could only open existing items but still receive an error when trying to
launch a new custom form.

One other thing to add: If I create a new custom form, publish to a contact
or calendar folder, I receive the same error right away. I'm sure you could
verify for yourself.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be that easy to reproduce. Were you publishing to a public folder?
