Outlook 2000 abruptly began requiring more "minimum memory", why?

Outlook partially loads, (takes an excessive amount of time), displays a
variety of messages from "minimum merory level too low" to missing various
..dll's.

Have "repaired" Office 2000 from Office 200 Small Business disk 1. Have run
system optimizers, reinstalled antivirus programs. Some messages have
changed, but still same result.

Am running XP Home on 1.2 AMD CPU with 512 meg RAM.

Have never had a similar problem to this.

None that I'm aware of. IE mysteriously disappeared from desktop. Seems to
have begun in conjunction with loading picture attachment from "trust source"
email attachment. Opening Outlook automatically connected to ISP and email
would then download to Outlook.
