Outlook keeps displaying the message of not finding this McAfee file - which
is residing where it is supposed to be. Outlook has been reinstalled, system
scanned for spyware, XP restored to a prior functional point - no help. BTW:
this occured after I was on vacation for 2 weeks. Computer was shut down
during my absence and upon restart, the error began appearing. Have not tried
any other Office 07 apps. Using Enterprise edition. Any ideas?

It's probably an add-in causing this error. Please try the following steps
to locate and disable the add-in.

1.. On the Tools menu click Trust Center
2.. In the Trust Center select Add-ins
3.. At the bottom, make sure COM add-ins is listed and then click Go.
4.. Disable the COM add-in you think is related to this error.
5.. Click OK.
6.. On the Tools menu click Trust Center
7.. In the Trust Center select Add-ins
8.. At the bottom, make sure Exchange Client Extensions is listed and then
click Go.
9.. Disable the add-in you think is related to this error.
10.. Click OK in the Add-In Manager dialog box
11.. Exit and restart Outlook
Hope this helps.

Greg:

It appears that the issue revolved around McAfee's email scanning and less
than optimum hardware. We had received a number of those annoying e-card
emails. Since I was gone without cell or Internet for 14 days (now, THAT'S a
vacation), McAfee was going nuts trying to eliminate all the junk mails.

I solved the problem by going backward to the full Office 2003 Suite, then
downloading all the 1300+ emails, then reinstalling Office 2007 with Outlook
2007. All is well. If this hadn't done it, I was going to hogtie one of our
network techs (they are always out in the field) and get them to try your
suggestion.

Thanks anyway.

Your version of Mcafee is simply not compatible with Outlook 2007. Apparently the problem occurs when Mcafee scans and finds an attachment that needs to be quarantined. that is why it doesn't necessarily choke every download.

Several options. YOu can use yoru console and disable On Delivery Email Scanner. If you stick with 8.0, you can also apply patch 15. I did this and his patch still gives the error but lets Outlook continue downloading. Eventually, you will end up having to acknowledge the error message and Outlook will end.
