Outlook 03

Everything worked except I did not get my
email accounts, and that is ok with me but I am having problems with:

1) How do I rid of one of the Outlook Today
2) I cannot get my contacts to show when I click to TO when emailing. I see
it in my address book.

This is the same thing that happened in my Outlook 02 and I cannot remember
what stuff you guys told me to do, please help.

Did I hurt my Outlook 2003 by copying those files if I did what should I do
to make it work the correct way.

Thank you so much in helping me if you can

I did a clean install of Outlook 03
I copied from Outlook 02 email rules, mailbox, and Outlook pst file to
Outlook 03

SHOULD I copy Outlook 02 extend (DAT File) to Outlook 03 since I copied
everything else

It shows that I have two Outlook Today in Outlook.
When I looked at the properties it shows they are they same name and format
(97-2002)

Thanks for reading and hopefully replying,

Tell us what you did first. You should not have two separate PST files.

To use another PST file (such as one from an earlier installation) and set
it to be the default for your current installation of Outlook, you will
first need to know the location and name of the PST file you'd like to use
as your new default. Then use the following directions:

- Go to Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Data Files > Add...
- Add the PST you'd like as your new default, then Close > OK to exit the
Options dialog
- Go to Tools > E-mail Accounts > View or change existing e-mail accounts
- Select the PST you just added in the "Deliver New e-mail to the following
location" dropdown (it will most likely appear just below the current
default Personal Folders file) > Finish
- Exit and Restart Outlook
- You can now close the previous default PST (R-click on that pst folder
while in Folder View and select "Close <foldername> Folders"). If you have
any information in your former PST that you'd like to transfer to your new
default PST, you can drag and drop from one to the other before you close
the old one.

Thank you, but i decided to do a clean install and what should I do now:

I did a clean install of Outlook 03

I copied from Outlook 02 rules, mailbox, extend (dat file), and Outlook pst
to my hard drive

How do I put all that information into Outlook 03

Hey russ .... i had the same problem and i did what u said. It worked
all fine but there is a small problem.... when i tried to close the
other folder it said "the operation failed. an object could not be
found".

I also tried going to data file management and tried removing from
there. It removed the .pst files but those folders are not going nor
can i delete them.

thanks in advance

Did you move the old PST before you tried to close it?
Really stubborn references to PST files may need to be removed in the
registry.

Usually a location similar to this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\<your profile name>
Look in the tree under that point (it should be full of keys with long
hexidecimal value names) and look for a section that references the PST file
you want off of your folder tree. Export that section (for safety) and then
delete it.
