Outllok 2007 fails to start

Windows Xp Pro SP3

Office 2007 Professional SP2

Outlook fails to start after I shutdown or restart my pc

It claims that the pst file is being used by another application

I checked my active applications and processes and do not see any outlook
running

I use Kaspersky anti Virus program and it has a hook into outlook for spam
mail feature of Kaspersky

But I do not understand what is doing this.

I have a windows Vista laptop with outlook 2007 also and do not have the
problem on that pc

Your thoughts and comments will be appreciated.

And if you boot your PC into safe mode Outlook then starts?
If so you have a program auto starting that hooks into outlook,
sync/fax/desktop search software eg
