Office and Outlook 2003, SP3

We have an issue where our outgoing Office attachments get set to Read-only
when Word is set as the email editor.

Has anyone ever seen this?

Thank you

PS, this happens when the file is opened from an open email. And not from
simply opening the attachment from the Reading Pane.

thanks again
Sue

The recipient should save the attachment to the hard drive bbefore
attempting to modify it.

Well you know that and I know that, but our users and attorneys want to know
why this is happening. And the recipients want to know why we send them
Read-only files.

When in fact, that is not our intent. Do you know of a setting in Word or
Outlook that may be triggering that?

Does the attachment contain any macros?

A few seconds with Google indicates that if you open the attachment from the
Reading Pane, it will be read-only but of you open the message first, it
will not.

My 2nd post indicated that the emails are not opened from the reading pane,
rather from opening the email message first. I've definitley gone through
Google and the MS support site. I thought someone here may have some thoughts
on the issue.

I will check for macros.
