"Outbox" problems

I have a forwarded email that is "lodged" in the outbox and has jammed up Outlook. No messages can be sent or received. I get the error message that I have performed an "illegal operation" and to close the program - "details" are as follows

How do I delete this out of the outbox? I cannot double click on it to open it, nor can I right click to look at its "properties"

Place Outlook Off-line; File-> Work Offline
Restart Outlook
Delete the message
Place Outlook back online
