Out of Range message

Normally, upon starting up the computer (after a rest period), a plain white rectangle appears on the black screen indicating "NO SIGNAL" before going to the usual Windows log-in screen. However, lately the message sometimes reads "OUT OF RANGE". Most of the time we can go ahead and log in without further problems. But once in a while, I am forced to turn off the computer and start over since it seems to be caught there... I have turned off the hibernation enabler and the resolution is set to the highest setting. But it is still happening.

Is there something wrong with the video card?

What does the "Out of Range" message refer to?

Are others having the same problem or does anyone know what to do about it?

Unless you somehow have your computer boot up and try to connect to a
wireless node of some kind, I would guess you have some spyware or some
kind of malware on the system. Do you have anything like Spybot, Ad-Adware
or others to check for this ? Or it could be a virus that I have never heard
of.

Try lowering the refresh rate - to 75Hz or 85Hz.

Control Panel|DISPLAY|SETTINGS|ADVANCED|MONITOR (or very similar path)

Boot the computer in safe mode and lower down the refresh rate
Uninstall display adapter and reboot the computer and install it back
Disable the display card.

Generally you get that message when somebody turns up the refresh rate
too high for the monitor by playing with the windows settings for such.
Boot to safe mode set it to default or optimum to fix the problem.
