out of paper message+printer's OK-how fix??

I receive a printer out of paper message with a new
install of windows 2000 and service pack 4. I get this
same message on numerous printers. Advice please??
 
I'm using an HPLJ4100n + Epson Stylus color 660,,,FYI. In
both cases, a window comes up before the printers
evidently get the signal to print. Thanks, Walter
