Out of Office

Gerald

We have some people that got new computers with outlook 2007 on it. When
they go to tools and then out of office assistant, they get a message your
out of office settings cannot be displayed the server is unavailable. Try
again later. People with outlook 2003 do not have this issue. The exchange
server is running exchange server 2007 with all the updates. Any suggestions
will be helpful.

Thanks

This usually means that the URL for the EWS service has not been configured
properly on the Exchange server.
Outlook 2003 do not use this service for OOF information which explains why
it works in Outlook 2003.
Contact your mail admin and have him/her verify the settings on the Exchange
server.

How do I check for this? The external url of our exchange server is
different than the internal.

You can see the configuration in Outlook by running Test E-mail
AutoConfiguration. You probably only have to enable Use AutoDiscover. You'll
both configurations for RPC (internal) and HTTP (external).

You can get the current configuration on the Exchange server by using the
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory Exchange PowerShell command.
You can make changes to the published URL on the Exchange server by using
the Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory Exchange PowerShell command.
