Out of office assistant

Configured out of office to use a Reply rule for internet mail accounts. For
it to work, it was necessary to also enter the normal out of office reply
field for internal auto replys. The internet replys work fine, but internal
senders receive two email replys, one from the normal reply field and another
from the reply rule.

How can I eliminate the dual replys within the Exchange organization?

I don't think you can, using that method. Have you asked your Exchange
administrator if he/she can enable automatic replies to the Internet?
(They're disabled by default in Exchange 5.5 and later versions.) If so,
then your Out of Office Assistant reply should go out to both internal and
external users, and you won't need a second rule for the external users.

You might post in microsoft.public.exchange.admin. Honestly, though, if
you're really on Exchange 5.0, I don't know how much help you'll get in
there....your company needs to upgrade.

Allow me to clarify, running Exchange 2003 and clients have
Outlook 2003SP2. The first reponse to my question prompted me to research
further on Technet, and I found article 323665 describing how to turn on
out-of-office for internet mail.
However, the "Allow out of Office Responses" was already checked, and we
have been unable to send replies to the internet. I attempted to resolve by
a rule in Outlook, but as previously stated it results in two replies
internally and one externally.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
