Out of office assistant

Need Help

I am running an Exchange server 5.5 with office 97 (I know its old), but
the out of office assistant only works internally. Anyone externally that
sends a message will not revieve a reply. Is this a feature that could be
turned off on the server? Or any other suggestions on how to activate this
feature?

Yes, the server controls this feature.

In addition to what Brian said, you must remember that if you DO turn on
this facility for external mail, it will send Out of office replies to EVERY
bit of spam your company gets.
