Out of Office Assistant - Outlook 2003

M

Margaret

I am trying to set out of assistant and keep getting the
following message.

The Out of Office Assistant could not be dispayed. A
required action was not successful due to an unspecified
error.

I then click okay and get the following :-

System resources are critically low. Close some windows.

Anyone know why ... my system has lots of resource

Can you enable/disable the OoOA by using Outlook Web Access? If you don't
know about OWA contact your mail administrator for server details.

Tips of the month:
-Backup and Restore
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

Margaret,
The Out of Office Assistant feature in Microsoft Outlook
is a Microsoft Exchange Server service. It is available
only when the Exchange Server transport service is
included in an Outlook user's profile. Try removing and
re-adding the exchange server service in the Outlook
profile. You will need to know the name of your exchange
server first so you can reconfigure it once the service is
added.

Was there ever a solution for this? I am having the same
problem for about 15 users.

Tried your suggestion and it works through OWA, however
do you know of any fix so our users don't have to go
through OWA every time. Thanks.

Was this ever properly resolved? I'm having the same
issue with various clients.

I know people can side-step the problem using OWA
(Outlook 2000 also works), but how do I actually correct
the problem in Outlook 2002?

Persistence pays off...found a solution that works.

Look up Microsoft KB article 320022
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;320022&Product=exch2k

Basically wipe off all the rules on the Inbox using the
Mdbvu32.exe util found on the Exchange CD. After this
was done, OOO worked as it should.

(If you want to recreate the rules...export them first
and then import again afterward)
