OT: Why do spammers delete their posts?

A... spammers are just trying to save space in the Usenet archives

B... spammers are just trying to keep the archives beautiful

or

C... spammers are trying to cover up their tracks

They don't. ISPs will cancel SPAM messages from their newsgroup servers.
I often don't see the actual SPAM message unless some idiot blurts out
SPAM!, and then quotes the whole thing back. Grrr...

Maybe it would be more clear if you explained what you consider "the
archives" to be.

It isn't wise to call someone a liar when their description is 100%
accurate with respect to the last one you quoted.
