~OT~ .WAV "Tag" Editor?

Hello,

I have hundreds of .wav files and need some kind of tag editor that will
allow me to assign key words and content info to .wav files so that they
will be searchable on these keywords (preferably 4 or more keyword fields).
This software might also have to serve as the search engine as well, since
I'm unaware of any native windows utility that will do this.
Basically, I need to catalog and organize these files so that they are
searchable on multiple fields. I'm not familiar with ANY software that will
accomplish this, so any ideas appreciated.

Also, I'm using MusicMatch 7.5's tag editor to batch tag .mp3s and .wmas. It
works ok, but any suggeestions for a more effiecient and extensive tag
editor?

Thanks,

mxh

Hi
You can't do that because wav files don't have the facility of storing info
in id3 tags like wma or mp3 files.

That's why I mentioned the probability that the same software may need to
serve also as a search engine. I've since run across at least one prospect
that seems likely to suit my purpose:

It does allow you to assign properties and keywords, upon which it will
search. Since there is no industry standard for this type of thing, the most
likely caveat is that I will be dependent on and stuck with whichever
software I choose unless it becomes "exportable" to other applications.

Thanks for the response,

Hello,

Thanks for your posting here.

Based on the WAV docs on www.wotsit.org, there is no official standard to
add ID3-like info to WAV files.

But it seems to work in some programs. I recommend that you try a 3rd-party
ID3 tag editor. For example, Cool Edit Pro or Blaze Media Pro. You can also
take a look at http://www.webattack.com/

I use PowerDesk5 to edit .mp3 tags then convert the file to .wma, the information stays put.
