There are out-of-band patches available as of today. An MS MVP or two can be found here discussing
the releases and impact it has had.

A security rollup patch for IE 8 was not announced in the announcement, yet there was a patch released all the same.

Through Automatic Updates this MS10-018 (KB980182) 2.9MB file
downloaded very very slowly. It has installed OK and requires a
system reboot. IE7 on a XP3 Pro x86-32 bit platform seems OK so far.
