OT: Sarcasm and the Troll

Boys and girls, boys and girls,

Have we no sense of humor or sarcasm?

I knew immediately that the post announcing today's update was not from Jack
Ass.

How?,

1. It was helpful !
2. It was accurate !
3. The poster put a winky smiley after the signature ! <---
4. As I confirmed before replying, it was not from the United Kingdom !!!

I thought it was hilarious myself. I would not have responded, with what I
thought was equal sarcasm, if I had thought it was the real Jack.

I never respond to Trolls, you know that.

In fact I would not even have seen the post had I been at my own machine as
my reader is set to filter out all postings by jack, I just happen to be
using a web browser on another machine when I saw it.

The same sarcasm was intended in my reply to Engel and his Link post, which
I think he got, based on his reply [ya gotta work on your ASCII art there
Engel, fixed font versus proportional makes all the difference :) ]

The only thing I can't figure out is if the real jack it from the UK, how
come his English is so bad? Doesn't say much for the University of London
does it?

Anyway, remember,

Don't Feed The Troll, Don't feed the Troll, don't feed the troll ...

And thanks again to the Original Poster, I got it, and I thought it was
funny :)

........ `The only thing I can't figure out is if the real jack it from the

That`s an easy one Tim.

Point one. Blame it on the EU. Too many foreigners invading the country with
pigeon English !! Which is why the government has eventually `woken up`,
albeit 30 years too late, and introduced language tests for those wishing to
reside and work. Problem is, the language requirements are primary school
level.

Point two. It doesn`t, which is a very worrying trend. Anyway. Who is niave
enough to suppose that, for those already claiming to be British by
birthright, and having a uni education these days, is synonomous with being
able to read, write, add up, subtract, multiply and divide properly? There
are those who feel examination standards have been lowered in order to make
the government`s figures look good.

Take math for example. In my somewhat younger and more tender years;) a math
pass at ordinary level (school leaving 16 years), required you to achieve a
pass in each of the three elements of math. Arith & Trigonometry, Algebra and
Geometry. Each paper was a one and a half hour sit and the pass mark 52% in
each. Only 52 you may ask yourself? Marking was hard and you used your head
for calcs. You had to show your workings otherwise you got virtually `
zippity nothing` even though the answer was right. In fact the correct
answer, while representing a bonus, wasn`t all that important. The important
part was, demonstrating the correct method by which you arrived at your
answer. If decimals were used in the question, they would sometimes ask for
answer to number of places OR convert to fraction !! Those were the days when
most of the world really respected a Brit education. Now its a joke. Having
seen some of the examination papers these days, I`m inclined to agree ;)

Hmmm

Now onto the meaning of, ` sense of humour`. To coin that classic John
McEnroe. You can`t be serious !! You must have surely come to that conclusion
over a bottle of Amontillado ! MVP equating to `Most Valuable Pig` and the
personal abuse levied at Randy Knobloch could hardly be interpreted as
`having a sense of humour`- even in jest. There are those who interpret
sarcasm as being `the lowest form of wit` and Jack Ass is no exception in
this area.

Let me pose another scenario. Maybe you`re a Jack Ass after a bottle OR two.
Does that comment seem funny to you OR do you find it an affront to the
opinion you have of yourself? ;) Fact of life. We never see ourselves as
others see us. BTW I put the `wink` in there to indicate I`m only joking.
Just in case you should get the wrong idea.

HAND ! ;);)

Stu,

I'm on the run today and really can't post much so I must be quick.

To be clear,
I was/am only referring to the sarcasm/humor expressed by the fake jack and
myself in regards to the update post. I was being sarcastic in implying that
the real jack had changed his ways [as it was obvious that the post had not
come from the real jack and he is Not a friend of Engel]

The real jack is not sarcastic!
He is rude, obnoxious, and condescending.
He is not helpful or of use to anyone.

Agreed, Randy has earned the title of MVP from Microsoft itself and it is
safe to assume that following his advise and leads is good thing. jack is
not being sarcastic at all. He is trying to get a response from us by being
nasty, as if we are taking him seriously, which we Never should.

Gotta go now,
Talk to you later.
