Could the Corliss baiters do the rest of us a favour? If you insist on
prodding him, when you use his name in your posts could you stick to the
proper spelling so the rest of us can filter those messages out? When you
mess around with the spelling, makes it difficult to set up a rule to get
rid of them. Some of you do contribute useful stuff periodically, so I don't
want to killfile an individual who might be helpful.

I was dismayed to see Corliss return because he's trollbait. Almost
immediately he started with the soapbox thing. I've killfiled him but would
also like to remove the non-productive messages meant to antagonize him.
Leave the war out of the ng as it were. . . By all means, the trolls and Mr.
C can continue their love-hate relationship but please make it easy for the
rest of us to stick to the point of this ng.

dare to be very violent. But they create an atmosphere of spamming and
trolling, kids who try to become as violent as the rulers. This old
social system stems from the stone age, and should be abolished.

We have had a nice atmosphere here during the periods when people like JC
and his followers have been dethronized. But they are always trying to
get back into power, and they will, unless we stop them.

respect with this response.

JC, et al need to act like adults. I usually can over look the little

slander as a filter is not a solution. (You haven't tried his link,
have you?). Better it is for you to killfile Biff and others that
bother your enjoyment of the NG. If and when they ever post
anything relevent, someone will respond.

Note; using that filter will killfile Mark Carter's ACF links posts

Man, you are one paranoid dude. I have NEVER threatened anybody outright
with violence in this group. Doing so is a violation of my ISP's TOS.
Feel free to repost any messages from me where I directly threatened
anybody. I will dissect them and prove to you that there was no threat
made by me.

Roger, learn to tell the difference between a threat and an offer to
discuss something face to face. A threat (and this is only an example,
so don't get your shorts in a bunch) would be something like me telling
you directly in a post something like "I hate your guts. I'm coming to
your hometown and I'm going to kill you (or beat you up)." THAT would be
a direct threat and I've never made such a remark.

Regardless, yes... I do tend to get pissed off once in a while. I'd like
to see how YOU would react if somebody like /3iff started stalking YOUR
ass. What would your do? Run off and leave the group? I'm not a pacifist
like you and neither are a lot of other people in this group. DEAL with it.

You should also learn to tell when I'm being facetious and to stop
listening to trolls. In short, you need to GROW UP.

I suggest that you read some of my posts where I offer advice and help
to those who come here looking for it. I've been participating in this
group for years now, and I know a lot of things about freeware. If you
want to write that off, well that's your business. However, you need to
stop trying to speak for me, for others and to mind your own business.

I agree 100% with you here.
3iff is just as much a part of the problem as JC.

The ideology behind that behavior is that 3iff and such people think they
are to teach JC to control his anger, by harassing him until he learns or
goes totally crazy and does something which puts him in jail.

And JC on his side can justify his behavior with ideas about the need for
a strong man who can take out the small spammers by being much more
violent than them.

Those are the usual procedures in a cultural pattern where men have to
harbor a lot of anger and hate, but learn to be very controlled, to fit
well into the society. Many women love silent and strong men who have
been trained like that. Such men carry a lot of respect with them.

But the process often fails, and we see a massacre on a school yard or in
the post office, some men go crazy, other become criminals or alkoholics,
some become drug addicts or weight lifters, some beat up their women, etc..

In the industrialized world we now see how even women and children are
trained in violence and selfcontrol. Young girls takes knifes with them
to school to be able to defend themselves. Yeah, that is a good idea, to
abolish the patriarchal structure by making everybody into men, (not).
Instead we should stop the rule of violence and replace it with more
human ways and manners.

All I am asking is that we keep this place little more family friendly.
JC, et al need to act like adults. I usually can over look the little

Many of us agree on that, but the question is how that should be
achieved. I think it is necessary to start from the top, stop the most
violent guys, and the leaders of the other inhumane guys.

still read this. I can remember my first post to this news group a year or
so ago and your reply. It was anything but helpful and certainly was
designed to irritate. And you wonder why people get pissed at you....

I have no idea what this persons beef is with you but I'd bet you deserve it
though - just based on past experience with your paranoia in this ng. I
wish he would clean it up but hey, it's still a free country and we can hope
common decency will prevail.

Point being John, you may have been helpful at some point in time but you
kinda went overboard with the attitude of, "This is my ng, you'll do things
my way or bear my wrath" and then your smart-ass replies to anyone that had
a different opinion. You're wound way to tight John, and need to lighten
up. This is a news group - not a way of life.

If you have something useful to offer someone - then offer it up and stop

enough that a number of people tell them that such manners are not
acceptable.

A passive majority is the basic condition for the rule of violence and
the activity of spammers.

If a violent person shows up in the park where your children play, and he
uses violent threats against the children he thinks need to learn some
manners, what do you as parents do?

Put a filter on your ears and eyes so you don't see what happens?

Accept his leadership and see your children learn to be tougher, learn to
live with a lot of controlled anger?

Go together and tell him very seriously that he is not welcome unless he
is prepared to really change his attitude?

haven't tried his / her link -- I know nothing about him / her. I'm just
here for the freeware.) When Corliss was gone, this ng seemed to get a lot
more productive though that may have been "rose coloured glasses" on my
part. I know nothing about Corliss either, but I do know he brings out the
worst in this ng when he's around. He's a troll magnet. I think he knows
that and enjoys it in an unhealthy way. I hoped he would stay away like he
promised (twice now) but no such luck. . .

As for the ones who prod him, for now I'm giving them the benefit of the
doubt. But they'll soon be joining him in my noseeum list if they are simply
wasting my screen real estate with nothing useful. God bless the power of
newsreaders.

That is correct. Rose coloured. It wasn't as bad as the worst battles, but
there is always static.

I know nothing about Corliss either, but I do know he brings out the

As a troll magnet (only partly justified) in another group I can tell you he
likely does NOT enjoy it. The enjoyment comes to the trolls who can badger
a person until they snap. JC didn't come here looking for trolls (I
presume, I'm not that old), he was involved in freeware, same as you. If
you're a regular, you make enemies. Some worse than others.
If they chase him off they win. I suspect he is as stubborn as I when it
comes to not capitulating.
