OT: Problem with flash drives

Carl

Sorry about the off-topic post, but I am not sure where else to post.

A friend of mine bought a 5-pack of flash drives. 2 of them work fine, but
3 are acting like CDs. You can write once, but after that they are
read-only. He is in another state, so I can't look at them myself. I don't
know what brand they are but I will ask and post later. In the mean time,
any ideas what could cause this?

Has you friend enabled the write protection switch?

I have heard some flash drives have write-protection switched, but I have 3
and none have them. But, my SD cards do. Depending in the brand, where
would they be? Would the drives have to be removed from their cases to get
to them?
