HI Leythos,

I was wondering if you might be able to help me with a question. I need
to know where in the registry on a XP machine the setting for schedule
auto update definitiions is kept? I am writing a script to automate the
moving of as many user/computer settings as possible from old machine to
new and I need to know from where in the registry to export it. The SAV
Corp versions we run are 8.1 and 10.

Let me apologize to the rest of the group for making an off topic post.
I have been searching for days for this infomation and having no luck.
What is left of the Symantec newsgroups seems hopeless and no luck
with web or usenet searches.

Thanks in advance!

Narrowed down the field of who you may get answers from, haven't you?

I don't have any idea where those settings are maintained in the
registry.

I just did a quick scan through HKLM and didn't see anything that
changed when I moved my update form 8PM to 9PM.

If you are running Corp, the server will manage the local client
settings, you don't need to move anything.

Hi Wesley,

Well it is not my intention to "Narrow down the field of who I may get
answers from", but just to make sure I get the attention of the person
who seems to be a Symantec Antivirus guru.

Please, if you or anyone else here who reads this has expertise to lend,
I'm all ears! :)

Thanks for your reply, Leythos, but we don't have a server, we just run
the SAV programs stand alone on the workstations, which is why I am
trying to find this setting in the registry as I am trying to come up
with a custom way here to move these settings from an old machine to a
new one.

Thanks again for atleast checking!

Too bad you totally restricted your list of potential
problem-solvers to the fantastic and highly competent
Mr. Leythos. He's a giant among mere mortals. (Grin.)

It's likely that others in the forum who know the exact
answer to your query were put-off because you made
it clear in your subject that you didn't seek their assistance.

Next time, type neutral subject headers which describe
your problem. You might get 5-10 terrific responses.
In example: "Schedule Auto Update Definitions in Registry."

Yea, you can blame Kurt for that BS. I never claimed to be a expert with
the internal configuration or programming associated with Symantec
products. Heck, I've only claimed that it's never been a problem on any
of our systems or our clients systems - and that it's protected them
better than any other AV product we've used by any other vendor.

Another case of Kurt doing more damage than good.

More like head cheerleader, not guru!

You are the head Symancrap Cheerleader. And that you know little about
how it works speaks volumes!

Another case of you talking about something you really know little
about!

That's funny coming from someone that doesn't know much about anything.
Show everyone where I've ever claimed to know anything about the
internal configurations for Symantec products? Oh, that's right, you are
just spreading more BS cause you can't prove me wrong on anything.

LOL! Um, if you no nothing about the internal working of
Norton/Symantec AV, then how do you know it/they are such a great
product that you get your panties in a twist anytime someone say,
Symantec Sucks!?

For all you know it could be a virtual viral entity! (And trying to
remove Symancrap off of a computer can be more difficult than removing a
virus!)

As for proving you wrong, I get you to prove yourself wrong in nearly
every thread we cross paths!
