I'm a Windows Home Server user looking about for the next step.

About 8 gigs of data, mostly media files (the WHS box is also
acting as host for a sort of Tivo-On-Steroids called SageTV).

Drobo sounds over priced to me at $2,000+ for an 8-bay version.

OTOH, this thing looks like the cat's meow:

One of those pulling 40-70 watts depending on activity plus some
sort of minimal-power computer like a Mac Mini to run the SageTV
part 24-7.... seems like a nice almost-turnkey solution.

I've read through the web pages, but can't figure out if it
allows different size disks in the array without downgrading all
discs to the capacity of the smallest disc (something that WSH
does and Drobo claims to do).

Is anybody using one?

Experiences?

Oops.... now I see it: each disc has tb the same size or all will
be downgraded to the smallest.

I can live with that.... And it also seems like it does not
require "Enterprise-Level" drives - i.e. WD Caviar Green
WD20EADS' will work.
