Off topic post....

I have a problem with IE, and wasn't sure which of the many MS NGs I should
post the message in. Please RSVP with which NG would be best to post this
problem to, and please feel free to comment if you have any ideas as to what
it may be or items I could check in regards to my problem.

In the past, the level of expertise, incite, and help I have received with
my Excel problems here has just been outstanding, and is why I decided to
come here first to get pointed in the right direction with this problem.

Here is the basic symptoms I'm having.

Thanks
Chuck

Running Windows 98SE with all current updates and patches.

Have already ran viri checkers including Panda and Trend micro which are
online ones just to make sure something hasn't zapped mine, nothing found.

Also ran my anti-Trojan progs, and Spyware (Spybot) detection progs, and
nothing.

My normally silk smooth IE is now very jittery when I scroll down a web
page, and very sluggish.
If I go to type a name of something to search for in google, there is about
a 5 second delay from when I push the key till it appears on the screen.

IF I go to highlight text on a web page to cut and paste, there is also a
long 5 second delay or more before the text even highlights, as if something
big was running in the backgroup dragging down my whole system.

Went through each and every setting in IE, and couldn't find anything out of
the ordinary.

Went ahead and clicked on Windows update, and decided to go ahead and update
IE 6 thinking a full upgrade to the next version would surely cure the bug,
nope, didn't fix it, just as sluggish, and jittery as ever.

Spent all day tweaking, and going through my registry and everything, and
can't find why the hell my normally smooth running machine is acting up.

Well folks, I guess it is just my turn for a puter problem...

Well before I format and slap in my Ghost image back up of a clean install,
I sure would like to first find out what the freaking hell is causing IE to
act so sluggish.

All other programs and computer functions and programs seem to work just
fine. Mem, CPU, system, and video tests all show no problems. Checking
devices and so forth, reveals no conflicts or errors.

Ideas, theories, complete guesses..
I'm Officially stumped..

Thanks
Chuck

Have you done a Disk Cleanup lately (especially to get rid of all contents
in Temp folders)? Also might defrag your HD if you haven't done that in a
while. Both aare in Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
